The Story of Humm
From as early as I can remember, I envisioned my life as a mom.
What I didn’t envision were the unknowns that would come with trying to become a parent, navigating pregnancy and postpartum, and learning how to parent young children.
I know now that I’m not alone.
According to a recent national survey of parents, 4 in 5 would value a way to connect with other parents outside of work and home. Nearly 70% of parents surveyed felt the demands of parenthood sometimes or frequently left them feeling isolated and lonely, and nearly half felt they had no one to support them in their parenting role. Two-thirds of moms and half the dads reported they felt burned out by their responsibilities as parents.
Parenting today has also been declared a state of mental health crisis, with the former U.S. Surgeon General Vivek Murthy issuing an advisory citing 33% of parents report high levels of stress compared to 20% of other adults. Likewise, 48% of parents say that most days their stress is completely overwhelming compared to 26% among other adults.
As a human resources professional and executive, I built my career around what I care about deeply: people.
Humm Parenting was born to help parents soar throughout the parenthood journey with confidence and community. Humm provides an unparalleled level of quality coaching, connectivity, care, and support to parents that is more accessible and affordable than traditional coaching models—all through a simple platform.
Humm is named in honor of my grandmother “Honey” who loved hummingbirds, gave the warmest hugs, and encouraged me to flutter and explore at my own pace, with support close by. Humm aims to emulate and share that same nurturing care for all parents. I am honored to take flight alongside you throughout your parenthood journey.
